The little white house with a pretty pink door was built in 1927. Beginning as a hair supply store, it was converted to an Aveda salon by its original owner and has currently been a salon for over 30 years. as of August 2015, Andrea and Anthony are the 3rd owners. Wanting to remain loyal to it’s roots, they chose to rebrand under the salon’s original name. It has since been completely revamped, bringing you a trendsetting, innovative salon that feels like home.
Andrea graduated from Columbia City High School in 2003. She went on to follow her passion of being a hair stylist and received her licensing from Masters of Cosmetology, here in Fort Wayne. Andrea has 14 years of experience as a hair stylist, 11 of which have been with Aveda. As an owner/stylist, she takes great pride in using her creativity to make clients look and feel incredible. Andrea, along with all stylists from F.I. regularly attend Aveda classes and shows to continue their education, providing you with the latest trends and techniques. Andrea enjoys working on DIY projects at the salon and at home in her spare time. She adores their three dogs Rica, Tuck and Mr. Kougs and spoils them. After taking dance lessons for nearly 20 years, dancing is one of Andrea’s favorite things to do. She also loves traveling to new places with her husband, spending time with family and friends. She devotes a considerable amount of time to her health and wellness through working out and proper nutrition.
Anthony graduated from East Noble High School in 2005. As a standout athlete, he was recruited by multiple universities. Ultimately choosing Florida State University to compete on the men’s cross country and track & field teams, and to attend the FSU/FAMU School of Engineering pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Anthony joined the US Air Force in 2010 and has continued to serve an active role as an air reserve technician. He and Andrea were introduced in 2012, while Anthony was on temporary duty in the pacific. He asked Andrea to marry him, among family and friends, after returning from deployment in 2013. Anthony loves working on cars & motorcycles. He enjoys volunteering at local schools through junior achievement. Anthony is also a representative for a supplement company based in St. Louis named 1st Phorm. He is currently pursuing a career in the fitness industry, aspiring to help others achieve their ultimate goals, and hoping to possibly expand future business efforts to include a gym.
Andrea & Anthony’s vision is to create a salon where every guest feels welcome and comfortable, while providing excellent customer service. They have the utmost confidence in the team, as each member brings a special talent to the first impressions family. Jami graduated from the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Lansing, Michigan in 2004 and has been part of the First Impressions family ever since. Jami’s specialty is women’s haircuts but she enjoys men’s and children’s haircuts as well. If you are looking for a refresh or a whole new style, Jami would love to have you in her chair. She is also an amazing colorist, so if you would like a little dimension added to your new style, she’ll take care of that too. Making you feel beautiful is what she loves about her job most!
Andrea was born and raised in Fort Wayne. She graduated from Canterbury High School, and went on to bartend at a few local hotspots before deciding to return to school. Andrea received her licensing from Ravenscroft Beauty School and began working at First Impressions in 2008. She enjoys keeping up with the latest trends and has recently attended ‘blonde bombshell’, ‘styled to last’ and the Aveda Mid-America hair show.
Andrea’s husband, Michael, works at the Rescue Mission. She has a daughter, Sydney, who is in the third grade and a 2-year-old son, Cameron, who is already looking into a career as an acrobat. They keep her busy, but she still finds time to enjoy a reading, gardening and hiking.
Samantha was a graduate from Leo High School in 2008. She continued her education at Aveda Fredrics Institute in Indianapolis, IN. Sam has been doing hair for the past 7 years. She specializes in highlights, lowlights, gray coverage, hand painting eclipting, balayage, ombre, Brazilian Blowouts, special occasion styles, and women’s cuts. Continued education is very important to her, so she can provide guests with the best product knowledge and up-to-date styles.
Samantha is married to Austin Harrison. They share a home with their dog, Peyton, in Fort Wayne. Her passion is making guests feel beautiful and looks forward to sharing her talents with you! Check out her photo gallery on Instagram.
Sarah graduated from OSBA, has over 13 years of experience and is also an Aveda Cutting Purefessional. She specializes in cutting, color including balayage, ombrè, hair-painting & multi-dimensional coloring, event styling, and make-up. She loves to take additional classes and workshops to stay up to date with the most current and upcoming trends.
In her free time, she’s hanging with her two awesome daughters, Eve and Sienna, and husband, Troy. Some of Sarah’s interests include health, fashion, makeup and reading a good book.
Jill has been working in an Aveda salon for 10 years after graduating from Masters of Cosmetology in 2006. She enjoys attending continued education classes as often as possible to better serve her guests with the newest trends and techniques. She specializes in creative color, haircutting, styling, Brazilian blowouts and event styles, but her favorite is to cut short hair styles.
When she’s not making her clients look and feel gorgeous, she is spending her time with her husband, Paul, daughter, Millie, son, Wyatt and her two furbabies.
Michaela has been part of the Aveda family for over 7 years. Being a hairstylist isn’t just a job, to her it is a passion. She is always eager to learn and expand her knowledge by taking advanced education classes, keeping her up to date on the newest hair and beauty trends. One of her best attributes is her care for her guests. Michaela always spends the extra time carefully listening to her guests so she can better create the look they desire. She is very thorough and provides special attention to every detail. She genuinely cares about her guests and will always go out of her way to make sure they have an amazing experience each visit.

Baleigh is the newest member of the First Impressions family and is beyond excited to be part of Aveda and F.I. at such a young age. She has had a passion for this industry for as long as she can remember. If you are looking to add volume or length to your hair with extensions, Baleigh would love to have you in her chair. She is certified in several extension techniques including microbeading, weft beading, tape in and fusion. She is always educating herself to be better, more knowledgeable and keeping up with trends to ensure she can meet the needs of every client.
She also loves nature, travelling, giving back to the world and making people feel wonderful about themselves. When her clients are truly happy, so is she! Two of Baleigh’s favorite quotes are:

Katelyn graduated from the Professional Salon Academy in Eau Claire, WI. She continued to work in Wisconsin at an Aveda Salon for a year and a half. She then moved to Minnesota to continue her education at Juut SalonSpa Advanced Academy. She attended various advanced classes from top leading artists. Some of her mentors are Vivienne Mackinder, Joel Gunderson, Jon Reyman, Lupe Voss, Ricardo Dinis, Roz and Alex Safdari to name a few. Seven years later she moved to Indiana, where she and her husband have lived for almost two years and she has continued her education journey. She is now an Aveda Purefessional Styling and Cutting Educator for North America!
She loves culture and diversity in both her life and career. Her passion for embracing other’s differences is what drives her career! She enjoys the versatility of art and hair dressing! No two days are ever the same! She wants her guests to feel like their best self when they leave her chair. Always starting with a thorough consultation to create a style and color based on the guests’ desired look, how they want to feel, personal style, what their lifestyle allows for. She enjoys cutting and styling whether it be blunt or razored away, men’s precision cuts, women’s short shapes and the perfect bob with texture and movement. When it comes to color, there are endless possibilities to create the desired look. She can add dimension and brighten up your features with the right shade to match your eyes and skin tone. She loves to immerse herself in changing trends, keeping strong ties to classic looks and combining the two so that together she and the guest can create the perfect desired look. She looks forward to seeing you in her chair soon!
Jen became an Esthetician in 2001 and has been with Aveda for 16 years. During that time, she has continued growing her skills through educational training and networking with other skin and hair professionals. One of her top priorities is to give all of her guests an amazing experience by incorporating rituals and aromatherapy during every visit. She is known for her “relaxing waxing” technique. Her goal is to help people obtain beautiful brows and healthy skin.
Hiking on the marsh or in the forest is where you will find Jen when she is not working. So much so that she became an Indiana Master Naturalist, currently working with Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve. Inspiration…spiritually, mentally and physically comes from her 3 children, Nate, Lindsey and Joshua. She says they are her greatest teachers and her biggest fans.
